The Britannia Grand Prix (an international event for the Olympic disciplines and SportTrap) is giving children from the Isleworth and Syon School an opportunity to learn a new sport with experienced instructors, be a part an international competition and meet some of the GB Team and members of the shooting industry.

The outline is to give an introduction to shooting, training and preliminary competition rounds at Pitt Hall Farm by kind permission of Kingsclere Estates Ltd. throughout March / early April.   A squad of ten children will then be invited to attend Southern Counties Shooting Ground for their own competition, the top five going through to shoot a final, with a medal and prize going to the High Gun plus medals to all other competitors.  The parameters for qualification to attend Southern Counties will not only be achieving the highest scores at the preliminaries, but also commitment to the exercise and general behaviour and attitude whilst on the shooting ground.  Talent alone will not achieve a place on the final squad!

The competition will take place on the Britannia Grand Prix Sponsors day, Thursday 16th April 2009.

The aim is to create the opportunity for this to be an ongoing exercise and shooting to become one of the sports opportunities for pupils of the Isleworth and Syon School.

The Britannia Grand Prix is looking to gain sponsorship and support for the entire project from companies and individual shooters.  This is an opportunity for all shooters to support a project that will give children an experience they would probably never have even thought of!

The Britannia School Project needs: 20 shooting vests, 8,000 cartridges and £1,300 for range fees to cover the project up to April.

Please contribute if you can, soft cartridges (if possible) in 12g and 20g plus contributions for the range fees.  If you do not have soft cartridges then please donate what you do have and we will exchange them.

Cartridges can be left at ‘Drop Off’ points throughout the country and contributions can be either given directly to the organisers or send a cheque made payable to: Britannia Grand Prix
